"Cop Positive on Drugs, During a surprise drug test which was conducted at MCPO’s conference room yesterday in Mandaue City Police Office, one of 50"
According to MCPM Senior Superintendent Jonathan Cabal, 15 policemen did not show up during the surprise drug test and then ask to submit letter of explanation on his office for immediate action.
Under the order from Police Regional Office 7 director, Cabal conducted random drug test for police officers and even to police officials assigned in different police stations and other offices in Mandaue City.
“For them to implement the law, they should be the first one to be free from drugs,” Cabal said.
Before the surprise drug test, the Chief of Mandaue Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group Senior Inspector Janelito Marquez advised 65 policemen to attend seminar at MCPO headquarters.
Of the 65 policemen called only 50 officers showed up. According to Marquez some MCPO personnel failed to attend as they were attending court hearings.
Cabal and Marquez were the first to undergo the surprise drug test, as a team from PNP Regional Crime Laboratory 7 conducted the test in MCPO.
Marquez told reporters that they placed personnel outside MCPO making it sure that none of the invited police for the surprise drug test can escape.
